Motivational Mondays- Heartbreak

heartbreak.jpg Most have us have been through some kind of heartbreak. If you have not yet, it is only a matter of time. Sorry to burst your bubble. It is just a part of life. Sometimes if happens more to some than others. This does not seem very motivational right now, I know. If this is your first time going through a heartbreak, the way you deal with it makes all the difference.

First of all, acknowledge it! Do not deny what transpired. Whether it was your fault or not. After you acknowledgement, you will be ready to go through the other set of emotions. If you don’t you really won’t be able to move on completely. In the beginning, find ways and things to build yourself up again. For me it is music. I think I have a soundtrack for every emotion hahaha. If I could sing, I would make my own damn songs and sing them myself. Alas I can not, so I leave it up to the artists and songs that relate to what I am going through at the time. My list of songs are more suited for women at times. Why wouldn’t they be since I am a woman. Here are some song you might want to add to your ipod/MP3 and make a playlist for yourself. Feel free to comment and add your own selections.

Hometown

The official premiere of the new Malish music video is happening today. I’m not one to promote or big up anyone of anything that I don’t truly feel or like myself. Regardless of if you are my friend or not. I can’t be fake. When I support you, know that it is from the heart.

Malicious is from Montreal and with his latest video called Hometown featuring Adele; he continues to put Montreal on the map of hip hop world wide. Hip hop is not dead. It is alive and kicking in places you may not know exist. This video showcases some of the many areas of the city. Recognize that not every song needs a catchy hook or a rapper singing out his raps to be a hit. If you are like myself, send this video to your friends and post it on your social networks. At the end of this entry, you will see some icons like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and so on. You can share this post with one click.

Without further ado I present to you, “Hometown”.

Born 2 Sin- CD Release Party

A local hip hop artist performed a free show here in Montreal yesterday. Bad News Brown was at club Soda for his official CD release party. The only harmonica playing hip hop artist out there. His album Born 2 Sin is in HMV and Born 2 Sinonline on iTunes.

Brown is not new to the game. He has been blowing into that harmonica for years now and to anyone who would listen. If you are not from Montreal, you have to understand that we as people are a tough crowd to please. If you come across as fake or not on point then we WILL let you know. If an artist from Montreal can make it in his/her own city then he/she can make it anywhere! I’ve always been a fan of what Bad News does but, have never seen him perform a show headlining himself. So I decided to go to his CD release party to see for myself. I went there with an open mind. I was hoping for a good turn out. As Montrealers and hip hop lovers, even if we like you, not enough of us will come out and support. Buy a CD, buy a ticket for a show and so on. I think it will take one or two hip hop artists to blow up in the USA before we give credit where credit is due. Sad but true. He has performed not only here in Canada but in the US as well.

The show began with him and his people making their entrance into the crowd. There was some production put into the show as well. From the intro where alien head people were pretty much telling everyone to buy the CD at the door. The big screen on the backdrop, changing scenes to suit each song. The what he calls, “pillow girls” that came out to give him his harmonica. I don’t know about you but I hate it when a performer doesn’t put any thought into their act. Be original and creative. If people wanted to here songs one after the other we would listen to them on our audio player of choice. Ahh I’m done my little rant now. The album is a mixed bag of genres. Lots of dance and club tracks like, Get Fly & Touch Her Body. Hip hop is full of different types of music mixed into one anyway. Not many people only like one kind of music. Brown was smart in making this an album with a little something for anyone. The venue did fill up and was pleased to see people support a local artist. Check out a couple of his music videos to get a sample of what you have been missing!

Jay-Z The Blueprint 3

The Blueprint 3

In this day in age you have to be creative to sell albums. Everything is at our fingertips now. This is not back in the day when you would wait for a song to come on the radio so you can copy it onto a blank cassette tape. Or tape all your favorite music videos so you can play them back when you want on your VCR. Now, songs get leaked, if you want to watch a music video; YouTube it. The illegal downloading of music has changed the game tremendously. Now you have to be different. Capture people’s attention. Our attention span has diminished. We want it quick and we want it now!

When I saw the Jay-Z commercial link on my Twitter, posted by @mr_malish I had to click to see what it was about. In one would I would describe this commercial as genius. An original idea and fantastic editing made this such a great marketing tool. Long time fans of Jay-Z will immediately understand it. New fans, not so much. That is OK because Jay-Z knows who his audience is. Watch it for yourself. If you do not get it, you better ask somebody haha. Just joking, I will explain at the end of this post. Enjoy this video and share it with others. I’m sure it has gone viral by now! Wink

*The Blueprint 3 comes out September 11, 2009.

** In this commercial, each scene represents an album cover of Jay-Z.

Obama Spoofs

Published by discussandreview under Music, Obama, USA, Video Edit This

Obama MAD Mag Picture A friend of mine sent me the Blame It Obama spoof and I wanted to share it. Based on the Jamie Foxx song, Blame It. It is a tradition to make fun of leaders so why stop now haha? The only one that has resemblance to who they are playing is the woman who is supposed to be Michelle Obama. If you look past that like I did, it just might make you laugh or at least chuckle a bit.

The second one is another Obama spoof. Based on T.I.’s song featuring Justin Timberlake, Dead and Gone.

Both spoofs come from the same guy who goes by Alphacat. Subscribe to his channel on YouTube to view more of is videos.
