I’m still on the hunt for my first dog. Before getting one, I’d like to be as informed as I possibly can. Since it’s been hard to find a Havanese breeder in my area I’m most likely going to take the adoption route. I’m a huge fan of the show, “Dog Whisperer”. It features dog trainer Cesar Millan. He goes house to house and rehabilitates humans for the most part. Yes, humans. Most of the “problem dogs” learn their behaviour from their owners. They lack leadership. Cesar believes that everything is energy. Your energy will reflect how your dog will behave.
He has a few books out there now but I chose to start with, A Member of the Family. I’m still in the middle of reading it but so far it’s great. If you’ve watched his show then you will love this book. It’s like an extention of what his show is about. Takes you through a process. Makes you think about all the things that come with owning a dog. Then finding the right one for you and your family. How to introduce your new pet to your home. Puppies, adult dogs, feeding, health care and more.
Whether you are thinking of getting a dog or you already have one, I suggest you read the book from front to back. Even if you think you know a certain subject already, you can always learn more.
So far it’s a must read and I can’t put it down!

Introduction
The Power of O! Millions of people around the world watch, read and listen to everything Oprah Winfrey has to say. In this 5 part series we will take a look at how Ms. Winfrey is a modern day prophet to so many. Each week I will post on one or two of her episodes for the next 5 weeks. How will the topics relate to you? Are you a devoted Oprah fan? Do you believe she’s the devil? A false prophet? Let’s take a look at the word prophet and its’ meanings. In no way am I regarding Oprah as a prophet in traditional religious terms. Like many words in the English language, the word “prophet” has more than one meaning. The definition I’m referring to is as follows.
Prophet: A person regarded as, or claiming to be, an inspired teacher or leader.
Think about it. Many people are inspired by the ideas and ideals she presents on her television show, magazine, XM radio shows and website. Almost everything she presents or becomes a part of turns to gold. If you’re featured on her TV show, you are pretty much guaranteed to get a whole lot of good come your way. When Oprah unveils her favorite things, ever notice how hard it is to buy one for yourself? It happen to me recently. Maya Angelou’s book, “A letter to my daughter”.
Starting in 2009, Oprah will be chairman to the network OWN. The Oprah Winfrey Network. A 50/50 venture between Harpo and Discovery communications. A channel devoted to help improve the lives of everyone.
A quote from Oprah Winfrey: ”Fifteen years ago, I wrote in my journal that one day I would create a television network, as I always felt my show was just the beginning of what the future could hold. For me, the launch of The Oprah Winfrey Network is the evolution of the work I’ve been doing on television all these years and a natural extension of my show.”
Whether you believe in her movement or not, the woman is SMART! Join me in the following weeks and see for yourself. You may learn something new. The first part off my Power of O Series will begin tomorrow. Dr. Oz reports on the science of beauty.
