I just saw this story on the TV show 20/20. They were showcasing one particular high school class in California. Most of the students in the class are being affected by the recession. Between that and trying to keep up their grades, it’s become a big stress on them. No one ever talked about their life at home before. The shame was too much. That’s until they found out they were not alone. Their teacher asked them if they would be willing to express their feelings on camera. They made a video and The President saw it. An email came from the white house directly to the teacher in class while 20/20 was shooting. It was a copy on a speech. Obama wanted to let them know that he saw the video and was very moved by all the students. He included them in his speech for education reform.
This is a global issue. If anything, it shows that you are not alone. Watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WMTTrOrKVI

In the this weeks episode of ER there was a pleasant surprise at the end. For those that did not get a chance to see it yet, you might want to come back to this post after. If you did see it, keep reading. Seems like the characters on this show are either getting a happy ending or end up dead. The producers have done a pretty good job with the final season. I’m so happy that Ray and Nela will finally have a chance to be together. Did NOT see that coming. (Don’t worry. I’m aware that I talk as if these are real people.) Nela left county hospital to pursue a whole new career in medicine in another city. Only two more episodes to go.

I hopped on the band wagon of Twitter a little while ago. Personally I don’t really see why you would want to join unless you really have something to say. While browsing, I came across a whole lot of nothing. The few people I chose to flow so far are either people I know or people that have the same interest as I. One in particular has a crazy sense of humour so his tweets are quite entertaining. The reason I joined is because I thought it would be a good way to get my blog out to even more people around the world. The more the merrier.
I invite you to look to the left of my blog where you will see the Twitter box. Follow me on Twitter and keep up-to-date with my post. There will be some personal and uncensored messages as well, I’m sure. Since I have posted it on my blog, I guess I will have to tweet more often. Am I even using the terminology right? This is a sign of getting older haha.

The recent incident between Rhianna and Chris Brown has ignited the controversial topic of domestic abuse. Today, Oprah announced on her live television show that she will be doing a special on dating abuse. There is a opportunity out there now to address this issue once again. Especially to young men and women in their teens. The fact that Rihanna may actually be back with him is another reason why society should not let celebrities be examples for their children. Have an open dialogue with them about abuse. Make sure they know what constitutes as abuse when you are dating someone. This special on the Oprah show will be aired next week. Thursday, March 12TH. Check your local listings.

It was expected that Chris Brown would be in court today for his arraignment. Charged with two felony charges. Brown’s punishment if convicted could be anything from probation to four years and eight months in a state jail. Rihanna’s lawyers made a request that Chris not be ordered to stay away from her. In my eyes, that only confirms the reports of them seeing each other.
What I don’t understand is the position of her father. Maybe it is because I’m not a parent yet. Possibly some of you parents out there could rationalize this for me. It’s been reported that Miss Disturbia has been seeing Chris with the consent of her father. What kind of father would condone this? Let me ask the question again. What kind of West Indian father would condone this? For those of you that from the Caribbean or descent from there can understand where I’m coming from. I don’t care if this was a one time thing or not. If someone busted up my daughter’s boyfriend busted up her face there is no way I could condone her wanting to be with him again. Stand by her no matter what…yes. Accept the continued relationship and/or friendship…no. As adults we have to make our own decisions. If Robyn a.k.a. Rihanna really is going to gt back with him, this will be one of the biggest mistakes.
I’m not saying he will do this again. I’m no Miss Cleo so I can’t predict what will happen. The short amount of time since this incident occurred is not enough to “get help”.
