Was at work today listening to a particular radio show in the background. It’s a talk radio station. The topic at the time was about athletes and their promiscuity. A wife of an NBA star said she puts condoms in his suitcase when he goes on the road. Her theory is, he better not let her find out what he’s doing and not to bring home any kind of disease. There are so many sides to this argument I don’t even know where to begin!
I can see her point. She knows he’s most likely going to screw some groupie when he’s gone. Why not acknowledge it and do what she can do on her end to protect herself? She has no plans on leaving him. They have a home, family and let’s face it, she’s very comfortable. I would have one question for her. If this husband of yours was a man with a $50.000/year income would you still be so quick to provide the condoms?
That brings me to my next point. Does it make a difference how much the man’s income is? When someone has money, it seems like they get away with a lot more. When a lot of money is involved, people tend to put up with more bullshit.
Giving him condoms basically tells him you don’t trust him. He has no self-control when any and every groupie throws herself on him. You know they will too. It doesn’t matter how much he loves you. Also, it doesn’t matter how many times he says no to all of them. There is a certain breed of women in the world and they have no shame! They don’t care if this man is married. Has kids and a happy home. She sees something she wants and will do whatever it takes to get it.
The type of women I just mentioned pray on every and any man. A lot of times they are successful at getting them too. Well at least getting them into bed. It is not because she is special either. Men need sex. That’s the reason. It’s true, they are wired differently. In general, women make an emotional connection when they think of sex. Men can think of sex…..and it will be just sex. Nothing personal. Pure physical. Some women know they will break at some point.
How well would you do if pussy was coming your way every time you stepped out? Most men would crumble under the pressure. The thought of being with another woman is enough to get the hormones going and have men thinking with that other head of theirs.
Time to flip the script. How many of you men would do the same for their wives? If she was on the road quite a bit, would you supply her with condoms? I don’t think so. When a woman cheats, the men react twice as bad as women do. You’re egos can’t handle it.
I say, to each their own. I can’t say what I would do in this situation. It is one of those things where you think you know what you would do but it can be different once you are really involved.

It’s official, Stevie Wonder will be kicking off this years’ Montreal Jazz Festival with a free outdoor concert. This will be Stevie’s first appearance at the festival. This year marks the 30TH anniversary of the infamous festival. The time has not been announced yet but I’m sure people will be there hours in advance to witness the event. I’m sure there will be all ages in attendance. Those of you like myself, in the late twenties to early thirties grew up listening to Mr. Wonder. Thanks to our parents influence. His music still lives on today. Many R&B artist looked up to Stevie Wonder as a mentor and you can hear it in their music. One that comes to mind is R&B sensation Ne-Yo.
Stay tuned for more details on this free concert and other events being held at the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival.

Montreal, Quebec is and always will be home to me. Being born and raised in Montreal I was fortunate enough to have to learn a second language. If you are from MTL you know that the English and French communities have a love/hate relationship. Sometimes more hate than love. When it comes to the black community, a lot has changed since I was a kid. Because of immigration there are a lot more than just the West Indian islands making up the black community in Montreal. Many Africans and Haitians have come to call Montreal their home too.
After living in Calgary, Alberta for 5 years I realized that I took my home for granted. Sometimes it takes leaving what your familiar with to really appreciate it. What gets me upset is when I hear my peers complaining about the city.
“There’s nothing to do here.”
“Montreal sucks.”
“There is no real music scene in Montreal.”
I could go on and on. The way I see it is, either do something to try and change things or move the fuck out! That goes for everything in life. If you don’t like it then make a difference or ship out. This is my contribution to the problem. I will be showcasing, promoting, anything that I feel is worth telling the world about in regards to Montreal. This blog can be reached by anyone in Montreal and around the world. Not doing it for money or for my own gain. It’s something I’m doing because I want to. Positivity brings change to those that welcome it.
This new ongoing series will be posted on this blog under the category, Today’s Montreal Scene”. For those in Montreal reading this, I encourage you to respond with your ideas. If you have party, music, book, art, store, hair salon, community center, anything positive you want the world to know and participate in then hit me up at melaniebrereton@live.com

The title of this post refers to the answer President Obama gave to reporters yesterday. One reporter asked where the new White House dog will be sleeping. With no hesitation Obama said, “Not in my bed!” I had to bust out laughing because it was such a typical response from a black person. In no way am I being racist. It’s the truth. Most black people (mixed or fully black) don’t allow their pets to sleep in their beds. It’s just something we don’t do.
When I get my dog it can sleep in it’s own bed. Putting the dog bed next to my own is as far as I will go.
Check out the following link to view the clip of what I’m talking about. It may give you a good laugh.
